When they say you can get a free gift card. Do they really mean it?
Vicki W asked:
I mean my friends are like I got a free 500$ gift card for victoria secret or something. It makes me so… wanna get it.

You are joking, right?
Haven’t you ever heard that there is no such thing as free? Well, if you haven’t, then now you have heard it.
If you actually believe in that then you are worse than my little brother who believes in Pokemon.
Very very very most likely, it is a scam. For the very small chance that it is not a scam and an actual legitimate corporate scheme to get business, there are some strings attach to it.
Tell me, if you owned your own business, how often would you give away free things, especially gift cards worth $500?

My sister was on my computer and clicked on one of those “get a $$$ gift card” promos for a well known restaurant. Not only did she have to answer about 80 or 90 “survey questions”, she never recieved a gift card. As an extra “bonus” I got TONS of spam emails clogging up my inbox after that! Don’t believe it – it will only bring you frustration and SPAM!

If it sounds to good to be true, it is. I get these all the time and its a scam. You start getting tons of junk mail.
Think about it, how many people get this free gift card mail. Millions, do you really think they could even begin to send $500 dollar gift certificates to all the people that reply?

If it was $5, yes, but $500, absolutely NOT! Read the fine print .. there’s always fine print, especially on the stuff that’s not free!

I can almost guarantee you that you will not get a free gift card without paying something to someplace for something. I think they mean that its free in the sense that you are not actually “buying” a gift card. You will, however, be required to follow the “terms and conditions” of the deal, and I have yet to see one where you are not required to “participate” in the sponsors promotions which will cost you.

I tried one from wal-Mart. I filled out all the information surveys and at the end had to buy something, so I bought a book for $3.95 from my credit card. It then said congradulation you just won a free $500.00 gift card from Wal-Mart for completing and excepting the terms of our sponcers You will be receiving your order and your free gift card in the mail with in 30 days.
It’s been six months and I have not received anything at all. I went back to the bank to get my $3.95 back just out of pricible and they couldn’t find the company. So Ye big time rip off.
